32 cores · 256 MB L3 · 8-channel DDR4-3200 — the CPU for a memory-fed rig
AMD EPYC 7543 32C/64T (Milan, SP3)
€699.00
Milan, Zen 3: 32 cores and 64 threads, 256 MB of L3 and eight channels of DDR4-3200, which is 204 GB/s of memory bandwidth. That is the number that matters for local models — when the weights do not fit in VRAM, the experts are streamed from system memory, and this is the CPU that feeds them. 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes mean four cards each get a full x16 link, and the SP3 socket fits single-socket boards like the MZ32-AR0 as well as dual-socket servers. 225 W, no cooler included. It is unlocked — no vendor lock — so it boots on any SP3 board, not only on Dell or HPE servers.
Cooler not included. SP3 needs its own mounting: Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 for a tower, or a 2U passive heatsink in a rack. Board support: EPYC 7003 works on boards with a current BIOS — on the Gigabyte MZ32-AR0 the rev 3.0 board is the one to take, rev 1.x is Rome only. Photos: the actual unit, part number 100-000000345. Unlocked: no vendor lock — it works in any SP3 board.
